OCEAN VIEW captures a familiar scene of contemporary life: travelling to an exotic destination with a spectacular view, only to spend the time looking at a phone. Part of the EXISTENTIAL OBSERVATIONS series, the painting observes the habits and contradictions of modern leisure.

Sunglasses, phones, swimwear and a single bright drink establish a familiar language of leisure, while the figures appear and disappear into the surrounding colour. Parts of the bodies remain defined; others dissolve into pink, peach and pale blue, leaving the eye to complete what is missing.
