EXISTENTIAL OBSERVATIONS - Forward Anyway

Beyond the Arctic Circle, where winter occupies most of the year, snow and ice become part of ordinary life. Somewhere along this road, a man in a manual wheelchair continues through the same conditions as buses and cars, using the means of transport available to him.

FORWARD ANYWAY grew from observing that ordinary journey. The painting holds the figure against a landscape where movement requires effort yet continues without spectacle.

Part of EXISTENTIAL OBSERVATIONS, the work considers persistence through the scale of an everyday action rather than a heroic pose.
